Autopiloten styr i natten medan detta inlägg skrivs. Fullmånen lyser upp vägen mot Elba. Inga ljus på havet, förutom våra lanternors reflexer i vattnet. Fullt av små ljuspunkter på himlen, både fasta i form av stjärnor och rörliga i form av flygplan. VHF-en har tystnat för natten, slut med snabbpratande italienare och mångordiga fransmän.
I Nice kom vår dotter Ellinor ombord för att få några veckors miljöombyte medan hon går i väntans tider. I slutet av augusti ska vi hem och se på resultatet, vårt tredje barnbarn!
Svindlande känsla att bada på 2500 meter djupt vatten mitt ute i Medelhavet på väg mellan Nice och Korsika. Spegelblankt vatten, 23 grader varmt, som svalkade skönt i hettan. Inga nöjesbåtar på havet, bara färjorna som kilar mellan Rivieran och Korsika. Stor skillnad mot kusten utmed Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Antibes och Nice där man tävlar om att ha den största och vräkigaste lyxkryssaren. Ibland är det svårt att veta om det är en privatägd båt eller ett passagerarfartyg man möter. I luften surrar helikoptrarna med folk som har bråttom till sitt chatelet eller sin båt.
I en ankarvik bredvid Nice, Rade de Villefranche, tittade vi storögt på superyachterna med besättningsmän som drog upp rib-båten i garaget på akterdäck, putsade och fejade medan ägaren låg lojt tillbakalutad i solen och drack något svalt. När vi vaknade och tittade ut i ankarviken på morgonen, trodde vi inte våra ögon, två jättelika kryssningsfartyg hade ankrat i viken i gryningen. Snart började tenderbåtarna köra in passagerarna till land och sedan vidare till Monte Carlo för att pröva lyckan i kasinot.
The autopilot steers in the dark while this contribution to the homepage is written. The full moon lights the way to Elba. No lights on the sea, except the reflection of our navigationlights in the water. Many small dots of light in the sky, both fixed from stars and moving from aircrafts. The radio is silent, no quick speaking Italians or Frenchmen with many words.
Our daughter Ellinor embarked in Nice to spend some weeks as a change to her waiting times. At the end August we will fly home to check the result, our third grandchild!
Thrilling feeling to swim in 2500 meter deep water in the middle of the Med underway from Nice to Corsika. Glassy water, 23 degrees Celsius, which was refreshing in the heat. No pleasure boats on the sea, only ferries sprinting between the Riviera and Corsica. It´s a great difference compared to the coast of Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Antibes and Nice where there is a competition of size and luxury among the yachts. Sometimes it is hard to tell if you meet a private owned yacht or a passenger ship. Helicopters are buzzing in the air with people in a hurry to their chatelet or yacht.
In an anchor bay close to Nice, Rade de Villefranche, we made great eyes looking at the super yachts with crew pulling up the rib into the garage on aft deck, polishing and cleaning while the owner was laying in the sun with a chilled drink in his hand. When we woke up in the morning and looked out in the bay, we did not believe our eyes, two huge cruising ships had anchored in the bay in the morning. Soon the tender boats began to bring the passengers ashore and further on with busses to Monte Carlo and the casino.
Since the last contribution on this homepage we have visited among other places the beautiful island Ile de Porquerolles, one of the islands in the group Ile d’Hyeres, where we arrived after a fresh reach. We stayed there for another day because of the Mistral and our bikes were used for a trip among olive trees and pine forests.
